What Does 'Mute Instance' Mean?

When a user wants the system to ignore a specific instance, they can mute it. This action is typically taken when an instance is deemed irrelevant, intentional, or not a threat to the organization.

By muting an instance:

  • The instance is excluded from all relevant modules.
  • It is moved to the "Muted Instances" category under the Settings menu.
  • No notifications will be triggered for the muted instance in subsequent scans.

Instances Can Be Muted From the Following Modules:

  • Asset Exposure (under the Attack Surface tab):
Muting an asset here also mutes its associated ports and security risks.

  • Asset Inventory (under Attack Surface):
Muting an asset and its ports here will mute related security risks.

  • Data Leaks

  • Security Risks (under All Security Risks)
